Elliots Bug

This bug was developed in response to fry holding high in the reservoir near the surface.

Rainbow were chasing and devouring them ,but subsequent fry patterns were only working sporadically.

This mainly foam fly and its relative shape seemed to make rainbows react to this patter whether fished on a retrieve or static on the surface

How to fish :

On a floating line, the length of rod and weight of line is your choice,my favourite is an 10ft rod with a weight forward floating line size 7.

A at least 15 ft of fluro carbon in some cases 20 ft ,if the fish are a bit wary.

Chuck it out and try different retrieval patterns till you get a response ,or try it static ,whichever way you choose hold on to your rod because the takes a vicious.

Below is a link to a fellow Scots fly tier,he ,with his videos and enthusiasm for all things trout ,gave me the tying bug many years ago .His fly tying is well above my capabilities, have a look and see his artisan tying techniques.
